Qype - Live and tell

Just received a mail in my inbox this morning confirming that we have won the 2007 Red Herring 100 Europe award. We should get hold of a copy of the magazine…

After all, startup life is not about awards, but about becoming profitable, so there is still a lot of work to be done. However, 700 European companies were reviewed to distill the 100 winners, so we enjoy this moment very much.

This week has been a tough one internally, however some good news towards the end of the week. We just learned that we have been selected as one of the 200 finalists for the Red Herring 100 Europe Award. The 100 winners will be announced in Cannes the on 25th of March.

Qype is the largest local review website in Europe today with more than 45,000 reviews in German. Our frontend in English language is nearly finished and in closed beta testing. (Access keys for beta testers can be obtained with a short email to “feedback at qype dot com”). We are planning to launch in some other European markets soon.
