No way, José!

Being a Brit, i’m used to a pretty decent music scene. With the Brixton Academy and the Astoria only moments from my place in London, i’ve definitely been spoilt over the last few years. When i moved to Germany i wasn’t expecting much in the way of live music. The only German band i can name is Rammstein and the only semi-German song i can hum along to is the legendary Hasselhoff hit “Looking for Freedom”. So imagine my suprise when i received a text last night saying José Gonzalez is playing a secret gig at a tiny music store just round the corner from Qype HQ! 4 of us quickly packed up our things and with the help of Tobstarr we navigated our way to the secret location on Qype mobile. The gig was brilliant, 5 fantasitc songs, great atmosphere and we were standing so close to José, a high-five was definitely on the cards. What a great way to spend an evening. Amazingly this kind of thing happens all the time in Hamburg which is rare and exciting.

So what’s your point? My point is that Germany is full of wonderful surprises. Whether it’s a secret gig, the world’s biggest cheeseburger or the best places to go barefoot in the fatherland, Germany is full of gems and there is no better way of finding these hidden treasures than on Qype :)
