Qype’s new year resolutions

It’s that time of year again, and as I don’t smoke I’ve had to be a bit creative with my (new word alert!) resolutioning this year. Here’s what I came up with.

I must support my local, independent shops more. Yes it’s really easy to nip down to Tesco Metro or do a quick online Sainsburys shop but this year I’m going to really try and make the effort to support all those people and places that can supply me with good, quality stuff.

For example, for my Christmas dinner this year I cooked a huge bit of pork which I got from Chadowick’s Organic Butchers in Balham. You can read my review for yourself to see how gobsmacked I was by the shop, the food, the staff and the pork (I can still taste the beautiful beautiful crackling!). And the Slow Food Christmas market we visited in December…amazing (just look at those reviews). Those are the experiences I want all the time, and while I’m not going to start going hunting for organic, free range baked bean suppliers I am going to try and make a bit more of an effort when it comes to the important stuff.

Take more photos. I resolve to be a shutter bug this year. First things first I need a new camera (I’m thinking about one of these babies, what do you think?), and then I’m going to turn into a regular Peter Parker. A picture paints a thousand words right? And while I love Qypeing there’s no way I’m going to be writing any thousand word reviews soon, plus with our new photo uploading tool it’s much easier to add loads of pics at once. David Bailey watch out.

Be more creative with my Qypeing. I admit it, I can be a bit lazy when it comes to reviews. Bars, cafes, restaurants…they’re easy to review and I happen to visit them quite a lot. I need to start Qypeing about stuff like golf courses, gig venues, record shops and taxi firms.

And finally…

Blog more! Yep, you’re going to see a lot more of me around here in 2008, so let me know what kind of thing you want to see on the blog in the comments section.

So unil next time, happy Qypeing in 2008.

Wouldn’t use in a company blog constitute commercial use?

Telakin: The blog itself isn’t a commercial enterprise (there’s no advertising on here for instance) but I have alerted the photographer to the fact we’ve used her image just to be courteous, and if she asks us to remove it we will do of course.
