How do you score your reviews? Are you a harsh reviewer? Or are you more forgiving? We realised yesterday that the way you guys see our scoring system changes from Qyper to Qyper. Obviously one star is pretty easy, so is five stars, but it’s the bit in the middle that seems to cause a bit of variation. So to kick off the debate, here’s how Siany reviews her places:
1 point: The worst experience we could have had. Rude service, bad food, anything that makes us angry and unhappy.
2 points: Awful service. Nothing hugely redeeming about the place, but if you’re completely desperate you’ll put up with it. There’s just usually never any need to and that annoys us.
3 points: The ’shoulder shrugger’. This is the kind of place we usually go because someone else likes it. It’s not bad, it’s not wonderful. Either it’s just OK, or we don’t get what the fuss is.
4 points: Hurrah! Finally we’re getting better. Siany actually thinks very highly of her 4 star places. There’s usually just one tiny flaw that means that don’t get that extra bonus point.
5 Points: These are the places that Siany couldn’t live without. And as it goes, Siany is actually quite fussy.
So there you go. Are you more harsh than us? Do you have a different way of scoring your reviews? Or does it just depend on whether you’re typing before your morning cuppa? Tell us in the comments.

I only tend to review places I really like, and I’ve given all the places 4 starts with the exception of one or two that have had 5. Of course, if I came across a review (particularly a positive one) of a place where I had a bad experience or which I don’t like, then I’d probably add my own review and score it accordingly.
Something that might be useful is a box next to each user profile showing the average score they’ve given, or better still a chart showing how many 5’s, 4’s 3’s etc they’ve given.

I’m with Rhys… if I hate it, I probably won’t bother reviewing it unless I happen upon someone else’s review and feel moved to add my own hap’orth.

Yeah - I think it would be pretty cool to have average star allocation in the user stats.
