Announcing the Qype API Challenge

Just before Christmas we launched Qype Radar, our iPhone app which puts the power of Qype right in your pocket.
That nifty bit of techno wizardry was built using the brand new Qype API and as of now we’re making that API available to anyone who wants to play around with it.
Version 1.0 of the API contains everything you need to build cool applications using our vast multi-lingual database of geo-coded place reviews and ratings. Imagine the possibilities for mobile apps, integration with other site… the Qype world is your oyster!
To encourage you to open up our API and start fiddling around with it, we’re putting up a €5,000 prize fund for the best applications.
The QYPE API Challenge
1st place application: €3500
2nd place: €1000
3rd place: €500
All Qype Application based on API 1.0, which go live in February 2009 will be eligible for the competition (make sure you let us know about them though!), and the winners will be chosen by a jury of techies from within the Qype ranks.
So go grab the API now and get tinkering.
