A very Qypey weekend

3.03.2008 from Rob

This weekend was a pretty exciting one for Qype in terms of publicity for the site.

On Saturday we sent a few pies to the XFM studios to mark the beginning of British Pie Week and the grateful DJs ended up inviting their listeners over to Leicester Square for a slice of free patry-encased loveliness. One of our eagle-eared users heard the programme and told us about it on the Pie Week forums (thanks vixff!).

Then, the very next day, we were featured in Rob Waugh’s internet page in the Mail on Sunday. Rob gave us a fantastic four star rating and said some lovely things about us:

“Unlike Facebook, there are no Zombies, Funwalls, SuperPokes or other pointless social “games”. Qype is focused entirely on you, your area , and what to do there… some of the user-made guides are genuinely great… Qype is easy to use and has the sort of clean layout that is the reason Facebook triumphed over MySpace.”

You can read the whole thing by clicking on the picture on the right (the article isn’t on the Mail’s website yet unfortunately).

So if you’re reading this as a result of hearing about us via XFM or the Mail then let me be the first to say hello, and thanks for popping by. We hope we’ll see a lot more of you in the future :)

Money off Virgin Wines for 2008

23.12.2007 from Phil

merryxmas

We know how tough the Christmas period can be on the wallet, so in order to help our UK Qypers throughout the first few weeks of 2008, we’ve teamed up with Virgin Wines to bring you a special offer.

All you have to do is add the tag virginwines to your next Qype review and we’ll send you a voucher worth £40 off your next purchase of premium plonk. It’s as easy as that!

And while we’re on the subject of giving things away… we should remind all our London Qypers that you have just one more day to get in the running to win a month’s worth of free travel in the capital. If you sign up to be fan of Qype via our Facebook page then your name will go into the festive hat for our Chistmas Day draw to win your Oyster card paid off for the whole of January.

So that’s all the presents under the Qype tree doled out for this year. All that remains is for us to wish all our reviewers a very merry Christmas and a happy new year, and we’ll see you in 2008!
